The subprime or ALT-A market has completely shifted since last year (2006) where almost anyone in the mid 500 FICO range could purchase a home.  If you have been in the Real estate industry for at least a couple of years you have seen this.  Most agents did not spend the time to coach their clients on their credit either because they themselves don't know how to or they felt it was a lost cause to even try to help.  I personally stumbled upon a website a while back called Get Good Credit Today which explains how credit works and how people can work on to improve it.  Having experience in the industry I bought a copy of their ebook and read it.  It showed you everything from how it works to a step by step guide of what to do, how to do it, and when to do it.
